Adrian Henderson fighting his way to the top

Elgin, SC (WACH)- One of the fastest rising Mixed Martial Artist's in the Midlands is training for the biggest fight of his career on Saturday.

Adrian "A-Train" Henderson (4-0) squares off with Conflict champion Nick Smiley (6-2) at the Savannah Civic Center in a bout that could earn the winner a contract in a premier fighting organization.

"Winning the fight would definitely put me in the eyes of the UFC," Henderson said.

The Spring Valley High School alum has wrestled his way up the ranks in local MMA promotions and feels his time is now.

"(Smiley's) supposed to be the man in the Southeast, but really I'm the man in the Southeast," Henderson said with a smile.

Henderson has trained with older brother Dave, who never saw the success coming.

"I really didn't know where he would go," Henderson said. "But when he committed to it, I did as well and I told him we'll ride this train as far as it will go."

And one train in particular has high hopes for this weekend.

"It will be knockout," Henderson said. "Second round."

When asked who would be delivering the K.O., the answer was direct.

"A-Train," Henderson laughed.
