COLUMBIA (WACH)- For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Dixie Youth World Series is back in South Carolina.
Carolina Stadium hosted the opening ceremonies for the 32 teams Friday night. A home run derby was scheduled following team introductions, but incliment weather cut the evening short.
All in all it was a successful turn out.
"It's a great event bringing a lot of people together," USC baseball head coach Chad Holbrook said. "Our university and baseball program is excited to be a part of it."
The games will be played at Ballpark Road in Lexington and begin Saturday at 3:30 p.m. For a full schedule, check out the Dixie Youth World Series site.
