COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - The NFL Combine is coming and several former Gamecocks are going.
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney headlines a group of five former USC standouts heading for the event later this month. Wide receiver Bruce Ellington, cornerback Victor Hampton, defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles and quarterback Connor Shaw are also set to join Clowney.
The combine will take place from February 19-25 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The annual event willl feature more than 300 prospects.
On Thursday, Clowney told hosts on "The Dan Patrick Show" that he should be the top pick in May's draft and he plans to prove it at the combine. Clowney has been training for the draft ever since wrapping up his South Carolina career last month. He has set goals he hopes to achieve at the combine to prove his point, including a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash.
The first three days of the combine will feature measurements, interviews and workout drills. Over the final four days, players will take part in position drills, which will be broadcast live on NFL Network and livestreamed on NFL.com.
Tight ends, offensive linemen and special teams performers will work out on Saturday, February 22. Quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers take the field on Sunday, February 23. Defensive linemen and linebackers are set for Monday, February 24, while defensive backs will wrap up the combine on Tuesday, February 25.
The Gamecocks are scheduled to hold their annual Pro Timing Day in Columbia on Wednesday, April 2.
