CLEMSON, SC (WACH) - Former Lower Richland High School standout Marcus Edmond will likely redshirt at Clemson.
Defensive coordinator Brent Venables said Tuesday the freshman defensive back has shown he has the talent to play but four veteran players are currently ahead of him on the depth chart.
"He could probably get out there and play, but would he better than those four? Probably not right now," Venables told TigerNet. "But he has a bright future, and he is going to be a very good player. But in fairness to both he and the team, it would be ideal if he were to redshirt and get stronger and improve."
The six-foot-one, 180 pounder was a three-star recruit as an athlete after a senior season in which he collected more than 2,000 total yards and 24 touchdowns as a quarterback, and racked up almost 50 tackles and four interceptions on defense.
Edmond turned down Arizona, North Carolina State and Wake Forest to sign with Clemson.
