CHARLOTTE, NC (WACH) - Former Spring valley standout Jordan Mosley didn't hear his named called at last weekend's draft but that isn't stopping him from chasing his NFL dream.
Mosely, a six-foot-three, 305 pound offensive lineman who played his college ball at Charlottte's Johnson C. Smith University has been invited to the New York Giants rookie mini-camp tryouts next weekend.
Mosely will be competing for a roster spot as a center at the tryouts which run May 11-13. He started all 11 games for Johnson C. Smith at left tackle in 2011, then switched to left guard, starting every game at the position his senior year.
"I'm really excited to have this opportunity to be in the NFL, this is a dream I've had since I was seven years old," said Mosely to the Johnson C. Smith website. "This is a surreal feeling, but not a surprise; when you combine hard work and God's favor, opportunities like these arise. I want to thank everyone who's been praying for me and I ask that they continue to keep me in their prayers."
In late March, Mosely worked out at the NFL Regional Combine in Atlanta and at Super Regional Combine in Dallas in early April.
Mosely will be competing against two NFL veterans at center who are currently on the Giants' roster, including any other free agents at next week's tryouts.
