COLUMBIA (WACH) -- South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is raising the stakes when it comes the Gamecocks in the College World Series.
USC takes on the University of Florida Monday at 8 p.m. in the first of a best-of-three series in Omaha, Neb.
Haley made a friendly wager over the phone with Florida Gov. Rick Scott Monday afternoon.
Haley says she's confident the Gamecocks will come out with the national title for the second year in a row.
We TMre a state " and I TMm a governor " that doesn TMt like to lose, Haley said. So, today, I called my good friend Gov. Scott, talked a little smack, and told him that I TMd bet him a barbecue dinner from Hudson TMs Smokehouse in Lexington that the Gamecocks would bring home the national title to Columbia. He took me up on the bet.
If the Gators win, Gov. Scott has Key Lime Pie from Kermit's Key West Key Lime Shop on the line.Related Stories... Gamecocks' Walker likely out for game 1 Gamecocks return to CWS finals in dramatic fashion Want to go to CWS last minute? Check out the cost of area flights
"The Gamecocks TM baseball team represents the very best in our state, and its postseason run is something for every South Carolinian to get excited about. We're proud of them and wish them the very best in Omaha," Haley added.
