Hammond Alum Seventh Woods Makes NCAA Tournament Debut
On Friday, Hammond high school alum Seventh Woods made his NCAA tournament debut with the UNC Tar Heels. The former high school standout played 15 minutes and scored 2 points (both on free throws) for North Carolina.
"Really, the game just slowed down for me," Woods said. "I mean, coming in, I felt pressure to always do the right thing. Now, all I do is lose myself in the game. Just play smart and free. It's been helping a lot. I'm not really worried about what I'm doing, it's how I'm doing it, really."
"Coming in and playing the point guard position, that's the hardest role to learn in this program, " UNC guard Nate Britt said. "Early in the season, you could tell he was trying to take it all in and what he was supposed to do and I think he's gotten a lot better and, now, it's just confidence. His confidence just continues to increase and increase."
(1)North Carolina beat (16)Texas Southern 103-64. They play (8)Arkansas in the second round in Greenville on Sunday.
