SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WACH) - Former Gamecock runningback Marcus Lattimore is not expected to play this season.
ESPN reports the San Francisco 49ers are taking a cautious approach to Lattimore's recovery from his second major knee surgery in as many years, and have no plans to put him on the field this season before he is fully recovered.
In the next two weeks, the team will have to either put Lattimore on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list. If he is placed on the PUP list, it would still allow Lattimore three more weeks of practice with the team, but it is highly unlikely he would play.
The fourth-round draft pick has consistently said in interviews that he would be ready to play this season despite recovering from reconstructive knee surgery for a second straight year.
