COLUMBIA (WACH)- Arizona Cardinals defensive back Justin Bethel knows all about being fast.
The Blythewood High School and Presbyterian College alum caught the attention of NFL scouts at the Combine in 2012 with his off-the-charts athleticism. The Cardinals were one of the teams that noticed and selected him in the sixth round.
Two years later, Bethel was named to his first Pro Bowl as a specialist.
Now Bethel is back home training in the offseason at Bodysmith Fitness in Columbia. His routine isn't what you'd expect from an NFL athlete, though.
"There's some guys and girls in there doing the same workout and they'll creep up on me," Bethel said. "I have to push myself harder because of my competitive nature."
Bethel's daily regiment is a test of strength and conditioning. Even the All-Pro is winded after completing his "Workout of the Day."
"The more you do now, the more it will help when your body starts getting tired late in the season," Bethel said.
And it's likely he'll need fresh legs when December rolls around. The Cardinals just missed out of making the playoffs last season.
