Mississippi St ends 11-game losing streak against South Carolina
The South Carolina women's basketball team suffered their second straight loss on Monday night as the Gamecocks fell to second-ranked Mississippi State 67-53 on the road.
It was also the second straight game the Gamecocks had to play against an undefeated opponent. They fell to top-ranked UConn at home last Thursday.
The loss ends an 11-game win-streak against Mississippi State for the Gamecocks, a streak that included last year's national championship win. This loss also makes it close to impossible for South Carolina to win the SEC regular season title.
A'ja Wilson shined once again for South Carolina scoring 25 points with 14 rebounds, respectively. The Bulldogs were led by Victoria Vivians who had 24 points on the day.
The game was really a tale of four quarters. South Carolina outscored Mississippi State 36-20 in the first and third quarters. However, the Bulldogs outscored the Gamecocks a whopping 47-17 in the second and fourth quarters.
The Gamecocks are now 4-5 vs top 25 opponents this season. This loss moves them to 18-5 overall and 7-3 in the SEC. Mississippi State is 24-0 overall and 10-0 in the SEC.
South Carolina's next game is Thursday, February 8th at Alabama.
