      Orioles select Clemson second baseman Wilkerson in eighth round of MLB Draft

      Clemson, SC (WACH)- The Baltimore Orioles selected Clemson second baseman Steve Wilkerson with the 241st pick in the eighth round of the 2014 MLB Draft on Friday.

      A senior from Roswell, Georgia, Wilkerson was a two-time Second-team All-ACC selection.

      Wilkerson started 56 games for the Tigers in 2014. He hit .317 with 33 runs scored, 65 hits, 18 doubles, a team-high six homers and 42 RBI.

      The second baseman became Clemson's first switch-hitter since Patrick Boyd in 1998-01.
