SMYRNA, Ga. (WACH/AP) -- An emergeny restraining order has been issued against the wife of former Clemson and big league pitcher Kris Benson after her husband accused her of busting into his home and threatening him with a gun.
On Wednesday, a judge also granted Kris Benson full custody and revoked Anna Benson's visitation rights of the couple's three children. The couple is in the middle of a divorce.
Smyrna Police say 37-year-old Anna Benson, who is being held without bond, was arrested Sunday on several charges including aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and trespassing.
Investigators say Kris Benson told police his wife, who was featured on VH1's "Baseball Wives," was wearing a bullet-proof vest and threatened him with a gun while she demanded $30,000 from him.
In a 911 call obtained by TMZ, Benson tells an operator his wife burst into his home "brandishing a gun." Benson went on to tell the 911 operator he was able to get out of the house and run into a neighbor's yard when he told Anna he would go get her a lighter so she could smoke a cigarette.
Police say when they asked Anna Benson why she was wearing a bullet-proof vest, the woman told officers she was a model and was testing the vest for a company.
In a jailhouse interview with the New York Post, Anna Benson also claimed she is planning to drive around the Southeast to gun shows to see "what is cool" at the events.
"The problem is I don't have any money to start my business," she told the Post. "A lot of the stuff I can't tell the investors about because it is top-secret military and Department of Defense stuff."
Anna, a former FHM model and ex-stripper, became one of the most notorious wives in sports during the couple's marriage for her attention-grabbing antics, once threatening to sleep with the entire New York Mets organization if her husband ever cheated on her.
Kris Benson played from 1999 to 2010 for Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New York, Texas and Arizona. It's unclear if Anna Benson has an attorney.
