SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey presents Gamecocks with SEC championship trophy
The South Carolina women's basketball team made history by becoming the first team in history to win four consecutive SEC tournament championships.
Presenting the award to the Gamecocks was SEC commissioner Greg Sankey. Sankey and South Carolina head women's basketball coach Dawn Staley have had a lot of turmoil with each other this year.
During the regular season, Missouri athletic director Jim Sterk accused Dawn Staley of creating an unhealthy and racist environment at South Carolina and never apologized for his words.
Staley then filed a $75,000 defamation lawsuit against Sterk for his comments. Just hours after Staley filed, Sankey and the SEC fined Sterk $25,000 for his words.
This was the first time Staley and Sankey had been seen in the same vicinity in public since the lawsuit occurred. You can watch the moment in the video below.
