The "Sinderella" Team is Here for the Long Haul
During the South Carolina men's basketball team's magical run through the NCAA tournament, the hashtag on social media started calling them the "Sinderella" team of the tournament, in honor of their star Sindarius Thornwell.
But, for the team, their run to the Final Four wasn't a surprise. In fact, with only three seniors on the team graduating, they feel this is a new beginning for the program. To the players, excellence is now the standard.
"Next year, won't settle for anything less than this season was," forward Maik Kotsar said. "Just trying to get back to the Final Four and trying to get a win."
Guard PJ Dozier said, "I'm happy for this team, that we can go down in history so far. To know that we can accomplish such a huge goal and make such a huge step from last year, and the previous years before... but we couldn't do it without the guys that came before us. That establishes culture, the winning culture."
"Only losing me, Sindarius, and Duane!" said senior Justin McKie. "Those younger guys that are coming back are good players. Of course, they'll have to step up in some roles next year, but they're more than capable of doing it."
