Thornwell supports Dozier's NBA decision
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - On Monday, South Carolina basketball guard PJ Dozier confirmed that he will be going to the 2017 NBA draft and will hire an agent. This means that Dozier's career with the Gamecocks is officially over.
Dozier released a statement on Instagram saying, "With the support of my family and Coaching Staff, I'm excited to continue to pursue my dreams and will be entering the 2017 NBA Draft and signing with an agent. I cannot express in words how much I appreciate everyone who has supported me thus far in my playing career."
At Monday night's Gamecock Gala, South Carolina basketball senior Sindarius Thornwell, who has also declared for the NBA draft, said he supports his teammate's decision.
"We all tried to meet with him and we all tried to talk to him and tell him to try and wait on signing with an agent until after the combine," Thornwell said. "But I feel like he made a decision that was best for him and, at the end of the day, the decision is all about what's best for him and not about and not about anybody else and I think that's what he did."
The NBA draft is on June 22.
