USC students ready to cheer on the Gamecocks

COLUMBIA (WACH) " Gamecock nation could be heard loud and proud Friday afternoon.

Fan gathered at the USC Horseshoe for a pep rally. Cocky, cheerleaders, the band, players and Coach Steve Spurrier were all in attendance.

Spurrier says his team is ready to play their first home game of the season in Williams Brice and football fanatics are behind him.

I think we will do really good. We have a really good coach, said Gamecock fan Krystal Dubose.

I just hope we don't screw up like we do sometimes, but it should go really well, adds USC student Jessica Tobey.

As long as we are not looking ahead, we should have a good chance of winning, commented USC student David Stephens.

The Gamecocks (2-0) are taking on the Navy for the first time since 1988.

USC is currently ranked 10th in the AP Poll and 11th in the Coaches Poll.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
