WACH: Alabama's Saban pleased with growth of Spring Valley product Christian Miller
HOOVER, AL (WACH) -- On Wed., Alabama head football coach Nick Saban was asked by WACH FOX sportscaster Mike Uva about the growth of former Spring Valley Vikings star Christian Miller. Miller, who'll be entering his senior year at the school but will be a red-shirted junior on the field, is projected to start at outside linebacker this season for the Crimson Tide in their base regular package.
"We're really pleased with Christian's development," explained Saban. "You're talking about a guy that's a great student who's really smart; really a tremendous asset to our team in every way and everything that he does."
The 6-foot-4 230-pound Columbia native has primarily played special teams the past two seasons while also seeing time as a back-up linebacker.
"He would play a lot more if [teams] would play regular people," said Saban. "But we seldom see that so we're always in nickel."
Miller finished last season with 16 tackles and two sacks.
