WACH: Gamecock great, Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. pays visit to Columbia
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- This weekend, South Carolina Gamecock great Jackie Bradley Jr. returned to Columbia to a pay a visit to his alma mater. On Saturday, the Boston Red Sox outfielder stopped by Williams-Brice to catch the Gamecocks defeat the Florida Gators for the first time since 2014.
"I try to make sure I get back at least once a year," said Bradley Jr., who recently finished his fifth-season with the Red Sox. "I enjoy this atmosphere and it's like a second home to me."
Despite his dazzling catches this season, the two-time college World Series champion wasn't even nominated for a Gold Glove this season. When asked if he felt he was snubbed, Bradley said he's just trying to do what he can to help the team.
"I just try to go into each off-season and get better. I don't do the voting or any of that stuff - all I do is go out there and do my job and do it well."
