Sonic Friday Night Rivals announces 2017 schedule

2017 Sonic Friday Night Rivals

COLUMBIA, SC - WACH FOX is bringing live high school football to the Midlands again this fall.

Sonic Friday Night Rivals (FNR) is returning for its third season of action packed football. FNR is a locally produced high school football game of the week that will air in primetime – turning a regular season high school football game into a community-wide event!

“We are thrilled to bring LIVE, weekly high school football back to the Midlands again this year on our sister station, Stadium – WACH 57.2,” said WACH FOX General Manager Greg Conner. “We are especially proud that we will be bringing you the full high school game day experience, from the cheerleaders to the band. Sonic’s Friday Night Rivals is a fun exciting event and we are very fortunate we have such great partners to help make happen.”

This season WACH FOX is expanding our coverage to include 9 new schools from last season. All told, this season Sonic Friday Night Rivals will represent 5 Counties, 11 School Districts, and 5 School Classifications from around the Midlands. You can see the entire schedule for the season below.

WACH FOX’s own USC and NFL Veteran Corey Miller, will once again handle the play-by-play duties in the booth.

This season Corey will be joined in the booth by Stacey Hough.

Hough is a 17 year sports casting veteran in SC. He is co-host of The Zone radio show on ESPN Columbia 94.9. Hough is the longtime color commentator for SCHSL football and basketball championships. He is also the PA voice of the Bojangles Bash Basketball Tournament and one of the PA announcers for the Chic-Fil-A Holiday Basketball Tournament. WACH FOX’s Courtney King will once again bring live reports from the sideline.

Sonic Drive-In is once again sponsoring Friday Night rivals: “We recognize how important high school football is in the Midlands and are honored to be a part of bringing high school football to TV. From the hours of planning by the coaching staff to the dedication and hard work from the students on the practice field, it all comes down to the performance on the field during Friday Night’s game.”

Coverage for the games will start at 7:30pm on WACH 57.2. Games can be seen over the air on channel 57.2, as well as on Cable channel 1250. The games will also stream live online at WACH.com.
