Two Jones take Grow Financial Scholar Athlete awards
BLYTHEWOOD (WACH) -- This week's Grow Financial Federal Credit Union Scholar Athlete awards went to Amari Jones of Fairfield Central, and Spencer Jones of Blythewood.
Amari has won three consecutive Coach’s Awards and has been All-Region in both Volleyball and Softball.
In the classroom Amari is a teacher’s cadet and a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.607 GPA.
In the community Amari helps with the Back to School Bash, and sells goods to help pay for school supplies in her community.
Amari plans to attend the College of Charleston and major in Biology and eventually become an optometrist.
Spencer is a football captain and also plays basketball.
Spencer's father is in the Army and has spent 5 years away from his family on deployments and Specner steps up to help his mom and sisters whenever he is away. All while maintaining a 4.43 GPA.
In the community Spencer volunters at the YMCA, Harvest Home Food Bank, and the American Cancer Society.
Spencer loves science and hopes to become a bio-chemist.
At the end of the season, Amari and Spencer will compete against the rest of this season's scholar athletes for a $5,000 scholarship from Grow Financial.
