Blowfish report to Capital City Stadium one final time

COLUMBIA (WACH)- The Columbia Blowfish have reported to Capital City Stadium for one final season in 2013.

The 2012 Coastal Plain League Champions practicing for the first time this season on Saturday under new head coach Jonathan Johnson, who takes over after coaching at Dutch Fork High School.

"I'm very excited to see what we have to work with," Johnson said. " You can see the excitement on the guys faces and we're ready to get going."

Johnson is joined by Parker Bangs, an assistant under Johnson at Dutch Fork and a member of the 2010 South Carolina National Championship team. Bangs played in the CPL himself, and understands the importance of getting work in the offseason.

"Baseball is about repetition," Bangs said. "The more reps you can get, the better off you're gonna be and this is a perfect environment for that."

The Blowfish open their season May 28th on the road, and will play their home opener May 29th against Gastonia. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
