Lexington wins AAAA baseball crown

Lexington High School captured the 4A State Championship with a 4-0 win over Blythewood on Friday night.

COLUMBIA (WACH)- Lexington fell short in 2012, but with the slogan "Finish It For Kennedy" in 2013, the Wildcats delivered. Josh Reagan pitched a complete game and the Wildcats capitalized all night on Bengals errors to defeat Blythewood 4-0 in game three of the AAAA State Championship at Carolina Stadium on Friday night.

"I'm so happy for these young men," Lexington head coach Brian Hucks said. "They work so hard and they're great students and great ambassadors for Lexington High School."

It was a tough night defensively for the Bengals, who forced a game three after winning on their home turf Wednesday night. The Wildcats scored all four of their runs through the first three innings on five Blythewood errors.

"I can't even explain what it feels like," senior catcher Nick Ciuffo said afterwards. "To have 6,000 people in the stands and watch our dream come true."

The Wildcats finish the season at 28-5 overall. The Bengals end the year at 27-7.
