Brookland-Cayce women soccer come up short in 3A title game

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- The Brookland-Cayce girls' soccer team left everything out on the field in Saturday's 3A state championship but came up short in penalty kicks to Indian Land.

After 110 minutes of regulation and overtime periods, the Bearcats and Warriors were tied at one. The two teams each connected on their first two penalty kicks. In the third round though, Indian Land goal keeper Emma Thompson denied Elizabeth McGee’s shot to help the Warriors win 2-1 (5-3 in PKs).

Following the game an emotional head coach Emily Heise talked about what she'll miss with this group at Brookland-Cayce as she prepares to take over as head coach at Gray Collegiate next season.
