WCW: Sumter Native playing semi-pro basketball for Carolina Stars
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- Every week on Good Day Columbia we celebrate the ladies of the sports world through our Woman Crush Wednesday segment. The Carolina Stars earn the honors this week. The semi-professional basketball team is a month away from starting their inaugural season.
The players are in their first week of training camp and have met every morning from 5-7:30 am at Warrior's Warehouse in Columbia.
Shanice Cooper is one of the guards on the Stars. She told WACH FOX that she's excited to have a second chance to play basketball since she transferred and played at three different schools before ending her collegiate career at USC Upstate.
Cooper grew up in the Midlands and graduated from Sumter High School.
