COLUMBIA (WACH)- The summer of 2013 is in full swing and the humidity in Columbia is drenching everyone, including the Blowfish.
Not only are the defending CPL champs having to dodge rain, but they are also having to avoid overheating.
Three hours before home games, the Blowfish hit Capital City Stadium for batting practice. While taking their rounds, players also make sure they are keeping hydrated.
"My mom called and asked where all her money was going and I told her all the water bottles I'm having to buy," Blowfish catcher Dylan Kelly said.
USC Sports Medicine doctors and trainers urge that players hydrate constantly throughout the day.
"When players get a break, whether they're thirsty or not, they should go ahead and grab a drink," Dr. Matt Pollack said.
Trainers are on site for every practice and game with the Blowfish. The team currently is 5-0 in the Western division.
