COLUMBIA (WACH)- For the first time in six years, the USA Collegiate National baseball team will bring their talents to Capital City Stadium.
The Blowfish will host some of the best players in the country on Thursday, June 26.
"The Columbia Blowfish have always been a great partner of ours," USA Baseball general manager Eric Campbell said.
This marks the first trip to Columbia for the USA team since 2008 when they played the Blowfish in three straight years.
"I hope the people in Columbia that love baseball won't miss this night," Campbell said.
Two Blowfish players will get an early test from the USA team. Allen Staton and JD Crowe were selected to the Coastal Plain League select team that will play USA on June 22 in Cary, NC.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for both of them," Blowfish head coach Jonathan Johnson said. "There will be a ton of scouts there and it only takes one big hit or one hustle play to catch somebody's eye and find themselves on somebody's draft board next year."
Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. on June 26. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
