Boulware, Erwin pace Clemson in rout over WCU

Garrett Boulware helped Clemson pound out a season-high 17 hits in a 12-1 win over Western Carolina on Wednesday.

CLEMSON (WACH)- Garrett Boulware went 3-for-4 with four RBI and Zack Erwin pitched five innings giving up just one run as No. 25 Clemson defeated Western Carolina 12-1 on Wednesday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Tigers improve to 28-13 on the season.

Erwin (3-0) allowed just four hits through his five innings of work while striking out four. Four Tiger relievers combined to allow just five WCU hits, but gave up no runs.

The Tigers got on the board first in the second inning when Tyler Krieger singled to right to score Shane Kennedy. Boulware then gave Clemson a 3-0 lead in the third when his RBI single to center scored Steve Wilkerson and Tyler Slaton.

Clemson added four more in the bottom of the fourth inning, and three in the sixth.

The Tigers return to action on Friday when they host Georgia Tech at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in a weekend series. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
