Bowl games announced for Gamecocks and Tigers

USC will face Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl. Clemson takes on Ohio State in the Discover Orange Bowl.

COLUMBIA (WACH) - Bowl matchups have been announced and South Carolina and Clemson are heading back to familiar territory.

The Gamecocks will take on Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl on January 1 at 1 p.m. ET in Orlando, Fl. The game will be televised on ABC and it is the first meeting between the two schools.

Sunday night, head coach Steve Spurrier called it the "best bowl" for the program after being left out of the more financially lucrative BCS bowls.

This is South Carolina's third straight bowl game against a Big Ten team. The Gamecocks beat Nebraska in the Capital One bowl in 2012 and Michigan in the Outback Bowl last year.

Clemson will face Ohio State in the Discover Orange Bowl on January 3 at 8:30 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fl. This is just the second meeting between the two schools, last playing in the 1978 Gator Bowl.

USC is ranked No. 8 in the AP while the Badgers are at No. 19. The Tigers are No. 12 and the Buckeyes are No. 7.
