DURHAM, N.C. (WACH) - Clemson dropped its ACC Tournament opener after NC State broke open a tie ballgame in the seventh inning on the Wolfpack's way to a 6-3 win at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Wednesday night.
The game was tied at 2-2 when No. 9 NC State posted four runs in the seventh to take control of the game.
Clemson dropped to 39-18 and 0-1 in the ACC Tournament with the loss, while NC State improved to 43-13 and 1-0 in tournament play.
The Tigers are off on Thursday before returning to ACC Tournament action Friday against North Carolina. First pitch is set for 7pm at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Clemson needs to win its final two games and N.C. State must lose its final two games in the tournament to advance to the ACC Tournament Championship game.
