Clemson falls to FSU, earn fifth seed in ACC Tournament

Clemson left 13 runners on base as Florida State took advantage and won 6-1 to clinch the series and the Atlantic division.

Tallahassee, FL (WACH)- Clemson pounded out 13 hits, but could not get runners home as Florida State defeated the Tigers 6-1 on Saturday to win the series and clinch the Atlantic division in the ACC. The Tigers, who earned the fifth seed in the ACC Tournament next week in Durham, NC, finished the regular season at 39-17 overall and 18-12 in conference play.

The Tigers got on the board first in the first inning when Steven Duggar hit an RBI single to score Maleeke Gibson, but that would be their only run of the game.

Zack Erwin (5-1) was dealt his first loss of the season giving up three runs on six hits in just two innings pitched.

Clemson had plenty of opportunities, but could not capitalize. The Tigers left 13 runners on base.

The Tigers will open play in the ACC Tournament on Wednesday against N.C. State. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m.
