      Clemson offense powers past Hokies

      No. 15 Clemson pounded out 16 hits and got solid relief out of Clate Schmidt to sweep Virginia Tech 11-4 on Sunday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

      Clemson, S.C. (WACH)- No. 15 Clemson pounded out 16 hits and got solid relief out of Clate Schmidt to sweep Virginia Tech 11-4 on Sunday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

      The Tigers (9-5, 3-0 ACC) trailed in the fourth inning, but four runs in the bottom half gave Clemson a 6-4 lead they wouldn't look back from.

      Chris Okey went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs.

      Schmidt (2-2) pitched four innings in relief and allowed just one run and didn't walk a batter.

      Clemson is back in action Wednesday hosting Appalachian State at 6:30 p.m.
