Clemson takes down Duke in first game of doubleheader to win series

Steven Duggar and the Tigers combined for 12 hits in Clemson's 8-4 win over Duke in game one of their doubleheader Saturday.

CLEMSON (WACH)- Clemson combined for 12 hits as the Tigers defeated Duke 8-4 in game one of their doubleheader Saturday to claim the series. The Tigers improved to 15-7 overall and 5-3 in the ACC.

Zack Erwin pitched 4.1 scoreless innings in relief for the Tigers.

Clemson got on the board early in the first when Garrett Boulware lifted an RBI single over the second baseman's head to score Steven Duggar. Thomas Brittle added to the lead after scoring on a wild pitch.

Duke tied the score at two, but Clemson took the lead for good in the third when Boulware delivered an RBI single to left to make it 3-2.

Boulware finished 2-for-4 with two RBI's. The Tigers fell in game two 13-1.

Clemson returns to action when they face Georgia in a home-and-home series starting Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Athens.
