Clemson wins ACC opener, 62-60 over BC

BOSTON (AP) -- K.J. McDaniels scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Jordan Roper had 15 points and Clemson hung on to win its league opener Saturday, 62-60 over Boston College.

Rod Hall added 12 points for the Tigers (10-3, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). It was their third victory in four games.

Olivier Hanlan led Boston College (4-11, 1-1) with 27 points, but missed the first of two free throws that could have tied it with 1.3 seconds left. Ryan Anderson had 13 points for the Eagles.

Trailing 62-59, Hanlan was fouled with 1.9 seconds left. He hit the first, but missed the second intentionally, grabbing his own rebound and getting fouled.

He then front-rimmed the first and had to miss second again, but McDaniels secured the rebound and the horn sounded.

It was just the third time this season Clemson held a team under 20 points in the first half.
