      Clowney honored at state house

      JaDeveon Clowney (right) was recognized by the South Carolina General Assembly at the State House on Tuesday.

      COLUMBIA (WACH)- Politics after football? Gamecocks defensive end JaDeveon Clowney was honored by the South Carolina General Assembly at the State House on Tuesday for his achievements last season.

      Clowney finished the 2012 season with 54 tackles and 13 sacks. His 23.5 tackles for loss and sack total were both school records.

      The South Pointe grad was named the 2012 AT&T National Player of the Year and SEC Defensive Player of the Year. He also took hom the Hendricks Award for the nation's top defensive end.

      USC kicks off the 2013 campaign against North Carolina on August 29.
