After 24 seasons at the helm of USC's softball program Coach Joyce Compton will retire at the end of the season.
The Hall-of-Fame coach won more than a thousand games at the Division I level including 951 at USC. She is the winnings coach in any sport at South Carolina.
Compton led the Gamecocks to 13 NCAA regional appearances, one super-regional and two Women's College World Series berths.
Her teams have struggled as of late, South Carolina will finish dead last in the SEC East and so far only has a one victory in SEC play.
Compton's final home game is Wednesday night against Coastal Carolina.
