Compton loses final home game

Gamecocks Softball Coach Joyce Compton lost her final home game as head coach Wednesday.

A late rally by the Gamecock softball team fell short Wednesday night in Joyce Compton's final home game as USC Coach. The Gamecocks lost 4-3 to Coastal Carolina.

An official with the team says Compton won't talk to the media until after the regular season ends. There are still six road games left on USC's schedule.

Compton compiled 950 wins over 24 seasons at South Carolina. She led the Gamecocks to 13 NCAA regional titles, four regional titles, and two appearances in the Women's College World Series.

Her teams have slumped in recent years, finishing at or near the bottom of the Southeastern Conference standings.
