COLUMBIA (WACH)- It rained throughout much of the day in Columbia on Wednesday, but for a few hours the skies cleared and allowed fans to come out to Capital City Stadium to support the Blowfish, USC alumni and most importantly the Powell family.
A silent auction was held at the Blowfish vs. USC alumni game, where all proceeds went to Landon Powell and his family to help with medical bills they face after the passing of their daughter Izzy.
"Landon Powell is such a great friend, and means so much to the Gamecock family and we want to give back as much as we can," Powell's former USC teammate Trey Dyson said.
The outpouring of support came from all over the Midlands.
"We're here to rally around the Powell family and Izzy," USC baseball head coach Chad Holbrook said. "We need to be here to help them."
For Powell and his family, it meant the world to see such a turn out.
"There's a lot of good in the world," Powell said. "I'm a very proud South Carolinian and we're so thankful to have such great friends and family."
Along with the auction, the Blowfish organization donated $1000 to Izzy's fund. The Blowfish won the game 8-6.
