Former Gamecock Damiere Bryd receives high praise from teammates and coaches
CHARLOTTE, NC (WACH) -- Following Sunday's 22-19 win for the Carolina Panthers, teammates and coaches couldn't say enough good things about former South Carolina wide receiver Damiere Byrd.
"He'll literally do whatever you want him to," said six-year linebacker Luke Kuechly. "That's what makes this game fun is seeing guys that work their butts off to get opportunities and then make the most out of it."
In the second quarter, Byrd returned a kickoff 103 yards for a touchdown marking not only the first special teams touchdown of his career but also the Panthers first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2011. It was also the longest return in Panthers history.
"He's given us that spark that we do need," e
xplained Cam Newton. "He has big play potential. For him, it's all about getting that confidence."
