COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - The University of South Carolina baseball program is welcoming back a familiar face to the team. Former infielder Adrian Morales is returning as a student assistant coach.
The Gamecocks have also hired Tyson Lusk as the new director of baseball operations.
"We are ecstatic to welcome back Adrian and to have Tyson here as part of our staff," said head coach Chad Holbrook. "Adrian was a very special player for us and part of two national championship teams. Not only was he a special player, but a great leader and winner as well. He is going to be a terrific coach."
Morales played in 136 games, starting 127 of them, in two years at South Carolina. He was vital member of the 2010 and 2011 national championship teams. Morales has played in the Kansas City Royals organization the past two and a half seasons and will be working toward completing his degree in criminal justice in his return to Columbia.
Lusk comes to South Carolina program after four years as the clubhouse and equipment manager for the University of North Carolina. Lusk worked with six College World Series teams and eight NCAA Tournament squads during his time in Chapel Hill.
