Gamecock football player charged with underage drinking

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - South Carolina offensive lineman Na'Ty Rodgers was charged with disorderly conduct and underage drinking early Sunday morning.

According to information provided by police, Rodgers, who is 19, smelled of alcohol and was behaving in a boisterous manner in Columbia's Five Points around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. He reportedly cooperated with police when he was approached by officers.

Per South Carolina athletics department policy, any player arrested or charged with a crime is immediately suspended.

Rodgers played in the Under Armour All-American game and was a four-star prospect out of McDonough High in Maryland when he signed with the Gamecocks in 2013.

The redshirt freshman is competing for playing time at offensive guard during spring practice.
