COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - South Carolina pitcher Forrest Koumas will have Tommy John surgery on his throwing arm and will be out for the 2014 season.
The right-hander also had surgery on his elbow in 2012.
The former Lugoff-Elgin star had an excellent first season as a Gamecock, earning All-SEC freshman honors after compiling a 6-1 record and a 2.96 ERA. However, Koumas has struggled as of late, appearing in only 10 games this past season and racking up an 8.35 ERA.
Koumas will have one year of eligibility left after he recovers from surgery.
