Gamecock women land top-10 ranking

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - The South Carolina women's basketball team has notched its best ranking in more than ten years.

The Gamecocks moved up two spots in this week's Associated Press Top 25 to No. 10, the program's best ranking since Feb. 10, 2002, when the Gamecocks were also ranked 10th.

UConn remains the unanimous No. 1 in The Associated Press poll after winning its only game of the week.

South Carolina is currently 9-0 after after a 76-61 win at Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Dawn Staley's team will not play another game for more than a week. They are slated to play No. 15 North Carolina on Wednesday Dec. 18 in Myrtle Beach.
