      Gamecocks come up short in Starkville, earn four seed in SEC Tournament

      Starkville, MS (WACH)- LB Dantzler hit two solo home runs, but it was not enough to take down Mississippi State as the Bulldogs defeated USC 7-2 to win the series. The Gamecocks finish the regular season at 39-16 overall and 17-12 in the SEC.

      Dantzler gave the Gamecocks a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a solo blast to right field. The Bulldogs answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good.

      Jack Wynkoop (7-3) took the loss allowing four runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings.

      The Gamecocks earned the fourth seed in the SEC Tournament and will have an opening round bye. USC will play the final game on Wednesday between the winner of No. 5 seed Mississippi State and No. 12 seed Missouri.
