(WACH/USC SID) - It is an impressive streak and it will continue for another year thanks to South Carolina's 10-1 victory over The Citadel on Tuesday night at Carolina Stadium. South Carolina secured a 40-win season for the 15th straight year thanks to ten hits and the efforts of freshman pitcher Reed Scott, who did not allow an earned run in seven innings of work. The No. 17 Gamecocks improved to 40-13 with the the win while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 20-32. Scott earned his second win of the season and is now 2-0 on the year. The Citadel starter Nate Brecklin suffers the loss and falls to 0-1 on the year. South Carolina broke ahead 3-0 in the first inning. Bulldogs' starter Nate Brecklin hit Marcus Mooney with a pitch to open the frame and followed with a walk to Taylor Widener. Kyle Martin drove in Mooney for the first run of the game. Widener and Martin both scored on a pair of RBI groundouts from Grayson Greiner and Joey Pankake. Martin went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs. As a team, the Gamecocks scored their 10 runs on 10 hits. South Carolina closes the SEC regular season on Thursday when they start a three-game series with Vanderbilt. Both teams are tied for second place in the Eastern division heading into the matchup.
