Gamecocks even series with LSU

Tanner English hit an RBI triple in the ninth inning and the Gamecocks evened the series at LSU with a 4-2 win on Saturday.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WACH)- Tanner English's RBI triple in the top of the ninth inning gave USC a lead they would not look back from as the Gamecocks knotted the series at LSU with a 4-2 win on Saturday night. The Gamecocks are now 32-12 overall and 12-8 in the SEC.

USC scored twice in the first inning before the Tigers tied things up scoring once in the second and the sixth.

In the ninth, Grayson Greiner reached on a throwing error by LSU shortstop Alex Bregman and English drove him in with shot to right-center. Adam Westmoreland earned the win to move to 5-1 on the year and Tyler Webb pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his 13th save.

The Gamecocks and Tigers will play in the rubber match of the series Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
