COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - As the calendar is ready to turn to the critical month of May, the South Carolina baseball team is back in the top ten.
The Gamecocks moved up two spots to No. 9 in this week's Baseball America Top 25 poll after taking two out of three games from then-No. 8 ranked Alabama over the weekend. There are seven SEC teams in this week's poll.
South Carolina has won six of its last seven games after slipping into the program's longest losing streak since 1997 earlier this month.
At 34-11 overall and 12-9 in SEC play, the Gamecocks are within striking distance in the conference standings, just three games behind SEC East leader Florida (30-15, 15-6, SEC) with three conference series left to play.
South Carolina is off until Friday when they travel to Georgia for the start of a three-game weekend series. First pitch for Friday's game one is set for 7 p.m. in Athens.
