COLUMBIA (WACH)- Freshman Jack Wynkoop worked into the sixth inning and USC took a lead in the third inning they would not look back from as the Gamecocks completed the sweep over Georgia on Sunday at Carolina Stadium. USC is now 37-14 overall and 16-10 in the SEC.
Georgia got on the board first in the third inning when Hunter Cole delivered a two-run double to left, but the Gamecocks answered with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Grayson Greiner hit a sharp liner at third base to score Graham Saiko cutting the deficit to one. Then Brison Celek had a bases-loaded RBI single to put USC in front.
Wynkoop (7-2) gave up just two runs on five hits and struck out three.
The Gamecocks are back in action Tuesday night when they host Presbyterian. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m.
