COLUMBIA (WACH)- There's no place like home. That's the message on shirts Gamecock Women's Basketball fans received at Sunday's game vs. Missouri, and it's the truth.
Off to its best start under the Dawn Staley era, the Gamecocks (21-2, 9-1 SEC) have thrived off the energy at Colonial Life Arena this season.
"It makes it easier for our players to get out and do the things they need to do while being appreciated for doing it," Staley said.
USC has won 51 of their last 62 games played at home, including 15 straight.
"It's a loud place to play," Staley said. "I'm sure our opponents have a hard time hearing, making play calls and coaches making decisions."
Its dominance at home has translated over to the road. The Gamecocks sit atop the SEC standings with six games remaining.
"It's a wonderful thing to be a part of," Staley said. "Our team has confidence so it gives us a chance to hold serve no matter who we're playing or where."
