Tue, 17 Dec 2013 21:59:32 GMT — COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - University of South Carolina defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles has been named second-team All-America by the Associated Press on Tuesday. Earlier this week, the junior was also named first-team All-SEC by the Associated Press and the league's coaches. Quarles, a 6-4, 298-pounder from Hodges, S.C., was the team leader in tackles for loss with 13.5 including a team-high 9.5 sacks. One of the team's four captains, Quarles enters the 2014 Capital One Bowl with 36 tackles, a pass breakup, a fumble recovery and three quarterback hurries. In addition, Quarles was named a first-team All-America by Sporting News. Quarles and senior quarterback Connor Shaw were also selected as honorable mention All-Americans by SI.com. The No. 8 Gamecocks started bowl mini-camp on Tuesday ahead of the team's New Year's Day matchup with 19th-ranked Wisconsin.
