COLUMBIA (WACH)- Maryland scored four runs in the second inning and held on to snap South Carolina's 28-game postseason home win streak with a 4-3 win Saturday night at Carolina Stadium.
Jack Wynkoop (7-6) suffered the loss and only lasted 1.2 innings. Taylor Widener worked the final 7.1 innings and gave up no runs.
The Gamecocks cut the lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning with a DC Arendas RBI single, then added two more in the sixth with an RBI double from Kyle Martin and a sacrifice fly from Arendas to make it 4-3.
Joey Pankake grounded into an inning-ending double play with two on to give Maryland the win.
USC will face Campbell in an elimination game Sunday at 1 p.m.
